Portland Farmers Market Notes: 6-6-09

What I bought:

  • Broccoli Raab from Lalibela Farm
  • Spinach from Beckwith Farms
  • Collard Greens (forgot where I got them!)
  • Anadama Bread and cauliflower from Rippling Waters Farm
  • Rhubarb from Uncle's Farm Stand
  • Baby lettuce greens from Old Ocean House Farm
  • Rosemary's Waltz cheese from Silvery Moon Creamery
  • Tuscan Chevre and Goat Milk from Tourmaline Hill Farm
  • Tomatoes and Pesto from Olivia's Garden
  • Cat Grass from L&H Farm
  • (not shown) 3 poppy seedlings from Alheri Garden

What I did with it:
(caution - there's a lot of heavy cheesy stuff down below!)

  • Baked stuffed chicken breasts with broccoli raab, mushrooms and smoked Gouda
  • Mini-spanakopita triangles (individually frozen on cookie sheets, then tossed into freezer bags for convenient apps at a later date)
  • Collard greens and cauliflower gratinee with Gruyere cheese
  • Simple Treatment #1: Anadama toast with butter
  • Feline Simple Treatment #1: Cat grass next to a bowl of water
  • Grilled summer squash and zucchini with Tuscan chevre on a bed of baby lettuce greens and vinaigrette
  • White pizza with provolone, pesto, and tomato slices (see first pic below)
  • Rhubarb and mascarpone ice cream (see second pic below)

See you next week at the market!
